The difference between our 700GL and 700GL NSW is all about field of view, even with small pupils.
700GL’s viewing angle is set at 10 degree. In comparison with competitors slit lamps, 700GL offers a better view of the fundus and it is an excellent slit lamp microscope for general examination.
When NSW is turned ON, the viewing angle is set at 4.1 degree, which gives approximately 133% of the fundus view that 700GL offers. Therefore, it is a perfect slit lamp for doctors who frequently examine the retina of outpatients.
*700GL NSW is a factory option specification. Standard 700GL cannot modified/converted to 700GL NSW.
The principle of NSW
When observing the fundus with a slit lamp microscope, the range obtained by the binocular vision is only the part where the right and left visual fields are overlapped (Stereoscopic Vision Area). This is because the larger the viewing angle becomes, the narrower the range obtained by binocular vision becomes.
By making this viewing angle at 4.1 degree, the area where the left and right visual fields overlap is increased, and the range obtained by binocular vision becomes wider.
Small pupil observation without increased working distance
The NSW specification narrows the observation light path at the prism. Therefore, the fundus of small pupil patients can even be observed with binocular vision.
Competitors extend the thickness of the device in order to achieve a longer working distance for similar devices to NSW.
Due to its specifications, our 700GL NSW allows to observe the fundus without increasing the working distance.
